Our October-November issue of Act Justly is out.
In this Issue we explore the new Social Justice Statement, Everyone’s Business: Developing an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy’. We begin with a summary of the statement from the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, then a reflection on the Statement and some of the ideas shared by the likes of Bishop Vincent Long OFM, and Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO during the official launch. Further, we hear from CatholicCare Sydney about how they’re bringing to life some of the major themes in the Statement through their Direct Employment Programme—and how you can get involved.
We also have a wrap-up piece from our hugely successful Tri-Diocesan Twilight Reflection Evening—‘Putting Rungs on the Ladder’. Thank you to all of you who came along, it was really wonderful to be able to celebrate and thank you all.
And then we give a brief update on the Save Our Weekend and Take the Time Campaigns after some recent actions and legislative outcomes.
As always, we also have sections on what’s happening around our parishes, as well as events to look out for over the coming couple of months. We love to hear about what people are up to so if you would like to share a story of how you or your parish or social justice ministry is working for justice, or if you would like to get involved, please do get in touch with us. We’d love to hear from you!
Blessings, JPO Team
