Joelle Sassine

Joelle Sassine

Research and Project Officer

Joelle Sassine is currently undertaking a BA Arts (Socio-Legal Studies)/ BA Advanced Studies (International Relations and Politics) at the University of Sydney. Being a third-year student and a Daylell Scholar, she has been fortunate to discover some of the innovative ways that can assist her with confronting the injustices she sees in the world. She is also a proud Josephite Action Group (JAG) volunteer who has been inspired by the charism of her Josephite schooling during her school captaincy journey.

Joelle’s fervent love for St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and the need to seek restoration for the marginalised has been facilitated by her work with the Josephite Justice Network (JJN) where she concurrently works as a Research Assistant. This has allowed her to coordinate social justice projects such as the Young Josephite’s Retreat (YJR) and ‘150 Days of Action for people seeking asylum campaign’. Joelle regularly prepares climate justice media statements and government submissions from a youth-specific angle, as she is passionate about nurturing the faith of young people via the medium of social justice activism. As a Research and Project Officer with the JPO, Joelle will continue to work with a range of stakeholders to empower youth to be agents of change across the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.
