Share the Dignity is a 100% volunteer run organisation that aims to ‘share the dignity’ by supporting homeless women and women in domestic violence shelters maintain their hygiene and self-worth by supplying sanitary items.Twice a year in April and August they run collection drives for donations of sanitary items. They have many drop off points but if by chance you don’t live nearby to one you can also donate directly to the charity. It’s a small, inexpensive way to do something for women struggling through difficult times. Find out more and how to donate here: http://www.sharethedignity.com.au/

You may also know Share the Dignity from their  popular ‘Its in the Bag’ drive at Christmas. They recognised that women in difficult circumstances usually receive no gifts and are unable to afford the small essentials like toiletries, or the little luxuries of a nice hand cream, or a lippy, or a notebook especially at Christmas time, so they started its in the bag and people can put together a little cornucopia of gifts in a handbag that is then given to women in need. It’s a simple but powerful gesture that reminds women they are loved, special and have dignity. Christmas is often an expensive time for us all, so perhaps think about collecting some small items between now and Christmas and make a donation then!
