Volunteer at the House of Welcome

The House Of Welcome, a Franciscan provider of transitional accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees in NSW, is seeking volunteers for a number of positions.  Current vacancies include:

• Drop in Support Worker- Every week –two vacancies –one on a Monday & the other on Tuesday. Tasks -help at the reception answering calls, responding to emails, responding to client queries and supporting the casework team. Time commitment-9.30 am-3.30pm.
• Community Kitchen at Carramar-Every week on a Thursday ( To support our volunteer chef. To get the room ready with tables and chairs sorted, help serve lunch in serving dishes and then help clean up after the even- Commitment-11am-2pm) Need only 2 people.
• Welcome Feast Program (It is an women’s empowerment and livelihood program that offers cooking classes, catering and food stalls at markets.) I need volunteers to assist the volunteer coordinator in charge to organise these events and see that they run smoothly. You all will be notified about upcoming events and then you can pick and choose as per your availability. Time commitment is anywhere between 3-6 hours. These can be during the day or in the evenings during the week or in the weekend.
• Women’s Creative Hub-Every week on a Thursday ( Women’s empowerment and livelihood program )-To help the coordinator set up the hub and help with the craft stalls in markets once a month) At the Hub time commitment is 4 hours, markets – 6-7 hours.
