UNHCR Donor Briefing with Sister Angelique Namaika
Join Sister Angelique Namaika as she speaks about her work helping women to recover from the trauma having been forcibly displaced in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). She runs Dynamic Women for Peace, which helps displaced women to rebuild their lives and restore their dignity. Women assisted by Sister Angelique integrate within communities through initiatives such as vocational training, literacy programs and the provision of credit for start up businesses. Dynamic Women for Peace also promotes the acceptance of displaced women within those communities.
Sister Angelique is the 2013 recipient of the 2013 Nansen Refugee Award, a human rights prize awarded by the UNHCR and is visiting for that organisation. Céline Schmitt, a frontline emergency UNHCR field worker, who until recently was based in Kinshasa, DRC, will also be speaking.
